"Savvy Touch takes a truly holistic approach to horse care"

I have been using Savvy Touch products since April 2008. I love the fact that there are no harsh chemicals in the products and the ingredients are all natural. My 2 favourites are “SKIN SMOOTHIE” which we apply to everything from mild abrasions to mud fever with outstanding results. The other product I can’t do without is the “LIGAMENT & TENDON COOLING GEL” which I apply to any hot spots post treatment and the tendons after work. My wife just adores the 2N1 SHAMPOO & SHINE Conditioner, both our horses have sensitive skin & they love the smell & feel of this product & the results are incredible both just gleam

As much as I love the Savvy Touch products the best Savvy Touch product is Steve – the man with the magic hands. Steve is an integral part of my management program for both the horses and myself. Steve has played an important role in my rehabilitation after 2 major falls in the last 18 months. If my horses get even half the gains that I have had on their bodies it has been worth every cent. I can feel the difference when I ride them after a treatment and several have shown remarkable improvement.

Savvy Touch takes a truly holistic approach to horse care and I like that a lot!

Cheers,

“I cannot speak highly enough of the grooming products from Savvy Touch”

“I cannot speak highly enough of the grooming products from Savvy Touch”

The Mane and Tail Spray & Shine conditioner & the 2N1 Shampoo & Shine Conditioner are by far the best we have used - and believe me, I am a connoisseur of such products - with two greys and two Palomino horses to turn out for events.  After use the knots simply slide out of their tails, avoiding breaking any hairs and leaving their tails & coats beautifully soft and shiny for days.........look at the shine on the coat & tail! “The Savvy Touch Skin Smoothie has been wonderful for one of our horses - who seems to suffer more cover rub than most horses - within only 2 days of starting to use it, there has been no further rubbing - and I can see hairs starting to grow back. It’s an excellent product and really useful to have on hand for so many things”

"His final trot-up after the cross country was actually better than at the first inspection"

Having ridden around the cross country under the required time and clear at Puhinui Three Day Event, Tom was a tired and stiff horse.  It was looking like he maybe a doubtful starter for the next day.  Then enter Steve from Savvy Touch.  Instantly he picked up on problem areas and set to work.  It was unbelievable to witness the relief shown by Tom during the course of the treatment.  The following day I presented Tom at the final horse inspection, and had the ground jury comment that his final trot-up after the cross country was actually better than at the first inspection.  Finally we entered the main arena for the showjumping.  I could not believe how good he felt, was hard to believe that he had done a demanding cross country the day before.  Tom jumped his heart out, finishing clear and within the time, not even touching a single pole!!!  I really have to thank Steve from Savvy Touch; he made Tom a very happy horse, relieving all those aches and pains and providing us with a chance to perform to our best ability.

I have been using the Savvy Touch products ever since and have found them to be marvellous, I have had much success with the product Skin Smoothie with a young horse that seemed to always be prone to skin infections and rashes.  For months I had tried a large variety of products, with none of them providing any relief.  The Skin Smoothie instantly decreased the inflammation and discomfort  and within days, the skin was notably improved.  Now he has no signs of the skin problems.

SKIN SMOOTHIE

SKIN SMOOTHIE

Hello Steve,

Thought you might be interested to see some pics of Fleurs injury.   I was amazed to see how the wound shrunk after the 1st application.  Also by the 3rd day of using the smoothie, almost all of the seeping had stopped.  This is a great product and I would not have believed it worked so well had I not had 4 days of using iodine powder and zinc cream on her wound prior to the smoothie. Go Savvy Touch!!

Thanks heaps

Savvy Touch Hoof Paste

Savvy Touch Hoof Paste is an extremely good product for the horse’s feet.

Horses can store a lot of toxicity in their bodies especially in the feet and legs. The feet and legs are like the drainage system for the excess toxins in the body that are not eliminated through the bladder and the kidney. This toxicity can include lactic acid or uric acid, it can be the result of feeds that aren’t complimentary to the horse or come from the many chemicals that are generally in use today. The feet and legs can also pick up infections, viruses or toxicity from chemicals, through the skin, or through the sole and wall of the foot. A build up of toxins causes sensitivity in the feet sometimes extreme in nature as is the case for laminitis. It can show up as bruising in the feet seen as redness through the wall of a white hoof or in the bulbs of the heel. Commonly known as a stone bruise this is actually the body trying to get rid of rubbish in the body. Often on the line of the coronet you will see a small horizontal slit where a bruise has broken out or perhaps you won’t notice it until it has grown down the hoof a little and you see a horizontal crack in the hoof wall. In extreme cases an abscess will form causing extreme discomfort and lameness. This build up of toxins inhibits performance, leads to discomfort and general poor health.

Good horse care management practices should include caring of the feet through regular soaking and the application of a good hoof dressing which helps draw out this toxicity and bruising. By softening the feet these toxins are released more easily than they would be through a dry callous and by sealing the outside surface of the foot it will be more protected against the entry of infection and viruses. Soaking the feet with a natural antiseptic for example thyme oil or lavender oil etc and then applying hoof paste helps kill the bacteria and infection already in the feet. Savvy Touch hoof paste is a product that is exceptionally good for all of this. It ideally is applied to the whole foot, the sole, wall, frog and heels. Massaging the paste into the bulbs of the heels and the coronet band will stimulate circulation and increase the release of toxins. You will see a big improvement in the whole horse just through taking better care of the feet.

Ligament & Tendon Cooling Gel

Recently my horse had her hind leg caught up in some strapping, she kicked and dragged her saddle for quite some time and when she finally allowed us to free her there was a lot of heat and swelling and abrasions. I hosed her down with cold water and bathed the leg and was given some “Ligament & Tendon Cooling Gel by SAVVY TOUCH” to apply on the Fetlock which was almost glowing it was so red and hot, in 10-15 minutes the heat had all but gone. I reapplied the “Cooling Gel” about an hour later and all the heat was gone. The horse was able to move quite freely and was able to be transported home on the float 2 days later without any problems.

Assorted Rider Comments

Hoof paste – non greasy, goes the distance – you only need a small amount for each hoof to benefit, repels water so stays on in the paddock for an amount of time. Super easy to apply with fingers, brush, cloth. Great on shod and unshod horses. Stands up to the harsh summer heat and dry, hard ground.

Ligament & Tendon Cooling Gel – This is my favourite product by far. I use it every time I compete and almost every day, from large injuries to little niggles this gel covers it all. The gel can be applied under boots or bandages; it doesn’t rub and can be brushed or washed off very easily. My show jumpers have it on their leg tendons after every round they compete in. I use this as a preventative on all my horses, after jumping and as a cure for injuries, strains, bruising and swelling on all areas of the body.

Mane and Tail Spray & Shine Detangler – In most disciplines we like our horses looking perfect to complete a polished performance. This recipe doesn’t attract dirt like silicon based sprays, and it works at the same time to keep the mane and tail healthy as well as a quick fix to shine and detangle for the ring.

2N1 Shampoo & Conditioner: - A whitening shampoo that does not aggravate the skin is so important, Many horses with white socks experience mud fever or other bacterial infections, this shampoo doesn’t aggravate cuts, scars or infections and gets the white hair to its whitest. My warm bloods have sensitive skin so I welcome a natural alternative. Many people with mud-fever issues can relate - they don’t want a harsh shampoo to whiten their horse’s socks as it makes the skin more susceptible to the mud fever bacteria.

Skin Smoothie –Gives results in an amazingly short amount of time. I use skin smoothie on cover rub, hair loss, scratches, scrapes and rubs with a very high degree of success. It stays on the skin for much longer than any other product and has remarkable healing properties. Noticeable results occur in 24 hours, and within no time the hair has grown back.

Testimonial Regarding the Results for Use of Savvy Touch products and Massages

Towards the end of the previous eventing season our horse began to act up very badly at shows not in a malicious manner but for him such behaviour was very out of character. Initially taking his reaction as possible disobedience we persevered this eventually culminated in a disastrous finale to our season and one very unhappy horse and rider.

On the recommendation of one our trainers we enlisted Steve of Savvy Touch to come and have a look at our uninspired horse and give him a massage to at least rule out or uncover any muscular problems. Steve very quickly diagnosed several issues, the least of which he was in quite bad muscular pain and so we began a massage treatment program. During the initial treatment we were shocked by our horse’s positive reaction and he indeed seemed much happier following the massage to the extent we happily rode the entire course that just 18hours earlier was a complete disaster  We continued with weekly massages and since then have seen a mammoth improvement not only in our horse’s temperament but his muscular condition and his ability and desire to work. We also had great difficulty developing his top line, however after 6 massages there was a dramatic improvement in our horse’s muscular top line.

In the first instance we where rather sceptical with the whole ideal of the horse being massaged and especially with Steve pointing and talking of issues with the bladder, kidney and other organs and that a positive result could be achieved from this form of treatment, however continuing on from the first massage we have seen major improvements in both the horses condition and temperament; his appetite has increased and his consumption of water has greatly increased from the point of being only just hydrated.

Massages and physio treatments with Steve have certainly brought out the best in our horse and without question improved his muscularity and freedom of pace. We cannot recommend him highly enough!
